Not sure if you are both still looking for a room :/
My husband and myself are currently renting a 4 bdrm home and have done for the past 2years.
Just a brief note about us - we both work, ..... you would have your own double sized room (although unfurnished) - ooooh, did i mention we have a cat !!!!! :)
The rent would be $250/week + sharing expenses IE: gas, power.
(We have a landline phone + wi-if hooked up too, (so IF you chose to use them they would also come under 'shared expenses')
We consider ourselves to be people-friendly, clean n tidy and approachable. Also, there is public transport available 2 minutes from home etc.
